Farm Sensation Soap

webassets/tallowsoapGF.jpgRene, visiting from South Africa, made her first batch of all natural soap!! The soap has a blend of Heydenrych Farms 100% Grass Fed Beef Tallow, Coconut Oil, Canola Oil, Madder Root for a beautiful ruby color and Pink Grapefruit Essential Oil (from South Africa) for a very pleasant and refreshing aroma. After days of turning the soap over to cure and smelling it, Rene decided to name the soap "Farm Sensation Soap". Way to go Rene!!

Heydenrych Farms Beef Tallow Soap Now Available!
webassets/soapcollectionweb.jpg
We are pleased to introduce our Heydenrych Beef Tallow soap! Our soap is made "from scratch" using the old fashioned cold-process method and rendering Beef Tallow from our own 100% Grass Fed Beef suet, to create unique and refreshing bars of soap. The main ingredient in all our soap is Beef Tallow from our animals with a 100% grass diet, received no antibiotics, grain and growth hormones and are humanely treated. The 100% Grass Fed Beef Tallow has a creamy color due to the vitamin E and carotene, which builds up naturally in grass fed animals.

100% Grass Fed Beef tallow soap makes a super-hard, creamy bar of soap with stable lather that is very moisturizing. We also combine our grass fed beef tallow with other liquid oils like coconut, canola, olive and palm kernel to make a wonderful, well balanced bar of soap.

Our soaps are handcrafted and as a result, no two bars of soap will look exactly the same. Unlike commercial soap, handcrafted soap retains the natural glycerin from the saponification process and thus feels wonderful on your skin! Most commercial soaps have their glycerin extracted and sold to other industries.

Handcrafted soap is an affordable indulgence for yourself, and it makes a great gift for friends and family. Our soap is packaged in earth friendly products such as recycled paper and raffia (fiber from the giant leaves of a palm tree found in Madagascar).

We ship our soap within the US using USPS flat rate boxes. Please see our website for more details http://www.grassfedbeefny.com/soap.html Thank You!

Reserve Your Farm Raised Chickens Now for 2012!
I hope you are enjoying this mind winter so far. It's almost the end of January and for us it means it is time to start firming up our plans for the 2012 season... Fun! and of course doing our taxes for 2011... not so Fun!!!

We will be placing our order for the day old chicks within the next month. We raise a limited number of chickens each year. If you are interested in buying chickens from us this year, please reserve your order by the end of February. Thank you to our customers that have already reserved their chickens!

About Our Farm Raised Chickens

We raise our chickens in the most natural setting possible. For the first 2 weeks they are in a brooder with heat lamps and after that they are free to explore the farm during the day and in the late afternoon, we close them up in their spacious barn to roost and to protect them from their natural predators. They enjoy sunshine, grass, bugs, vegetables from our garden and grains.

Our chickens are available for pickup at the farm or delivery to a central location in Albany, NY in August and October of each year.

Our chickens are sold whole, frozen to lock in freshness and packaged in 55 micron high barrier shrink bags that will deter freezer burn for up to 1 year. Each processed chicken weighs between 4.5 to 6 lbs. The price per chicken is $15.00.

Grass Fed Lamb
We are sending our first Dorper Grass Fed Lambs for processing tomorrow!! Just prepared the cutting instructions for our processor. The Dorper breed has proved that it can produce a carcass equal to the best in the world. Dorper lamb is well known for its mild flavor and tenderness. The breed is a hair sheep and not a wool sheep and because of this, they have very little or no lanolin. Lanolin is the oil in wool that makes lamb meat taste strong that causes so many Americans to avoid eating lamb. We can't wait to cook some of our own Grass Fed Dorper Lamb in the near future!!!

Grass Fed Beef Tallow Soap!

webassets/Soap2.jpgwebassets/soapDec1.jpgThe soap was made from scratch, using the Beef Tallow from Heydenrych Farms 100% Grass Fed Beef Suet. We believe that no part of the animal should be wasted. I don't think anyone really knows what commercial soap contains. Our soap has complete traceability... From the birth of the Calf, entire life of no antibiotics, hormones, humanely teated, a 100% grass diet and beef processed in an Animal Welfare Approved Facility. It is very satisfying for us!

Final Holiday Packages Shipped for 2011!
webassets/Rango122711.jpgToday proves, yet again, that the best plans often have to change! The last Beef order was placed at 1:30 am for shipping today... Got up at 2 am to ensure that we have enough ice packs, write the holiday cards, prepare the welcome kit for the new subscribers to our Monthly Grass Fed Beef Club, print UPS labels, etc. At sunrise the only thing left to do was to feed the animals and start packaging the beef to have it all ready for farm pick-up and UPS pick-up at noon. Well, that is what we thought... First stop is always taking hay to Chaka (zebra) and Rango (mini donkey) in their 2 stall barn. When I opened Rango's stall door, to my surprise, both Chaka and Rango were in the same stall! Someone (not to point fingers at Rango) took the stall divider gate off it's hinges which turned the 2 stalls into 1 big stall. I guess Rango got bored with moving his 100 lbs mats around in his stall and decided that the gate will be much more fun. We had to take the time to get their barn put back together and Andre made it child (Rango) proof. Next stop was the calf that is recovering well. He also needed some extra care this morning. Fortunately, the rest of the animals just needed their normal care!! Somehow, we managed to get everything done!

Christmas Project - Making all All Natural Beef Tallow Soap!
webassets/BeefSuet.jpgWith things slowing down after a busy week of Shipping Grass Fed Beef Gifts & Holiday Roasts, we have a fun project planned for Christmas this year... Making soap from scratch using the Beef Suet from our 100% Grass Fed Beef. Beef suet comes from the tissue surrounding the kidneys and the loins. The suet is yellow in color due to the vitamin E and carotene which builds up naturally in the fat of grass fed animals. We selected an all natural, pure tallow soap recipe for our xmas project. We will start Step # 1 this evening... rendering beef tallow. The soap making process will continue on xmas day! Beth volunteered to be a tester of our final product! The pressure is on...
